“The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. Our thoughts are with the student who was injured during Saturday’s incident, and we are grateful that they have been released from the hospital with a non-serious injury,” the Nebo School District said Sunday in a statement, Fox 13 reported. “We recognize that events like this can be deeply upsetting for our students, staff, and community. Counseling resources will be available at the school for any student who may need support.”
The school district confirmed the injured student has since left the hospital.
Police continue to investigate the alleged stabbing. They have not released additional details about the incident or the students involved.
The attack occurred during what should have been a celebratory evening for students at the Utah County school. Maple Mountain High School serves students in Spanish Fork, a city of approximately 42,000 people located about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City.
