Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden on a series of key 2024 issues, including those unique to the race pitting elderly candidates against each other.
In a new survey focused on the personal traits of the two candidates leading challengers in primary and caucus polls, Trump topped Biden on leadership, mental soundness and health.

The duo in the George Washington University Politics Poll are virtually tied on the issues of patriotism and knowledge. Biden only beats Trump on “morals” and “honesty.”
Overall, the survey conducted by YouGov for George Washington University’s media and political departments, produced another list of woes for Biden and piggybacked on other recent polls, like a new Rasmussen Reports issued today that have found voters wishing the president would not run.
Rasmussen said that 54% believes Biden is too old to run and want him to quit after one term.
In its poll, GW said that 68% believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, a sign of how voters view Bidenomics and the economy less than a year before the presidential election.
It also found voter concerns on key traits for the so-called “silent generation” candidates.

Asked about physical health, the analysis said that “Trump dominated with 54% saying his health is good enough to serve effectively. In comparison, just 35% of those surveyed agreed that President Biden’s health was good enough to serve.”
When quizzed on mental soundness, just 38% described Biden as well. “In contrast,” said the GW analysis, “46% of people surveyed rated former President Trump as having the mental soundness to serve effectively.”
And on the issue of leadership, it was Trump over Biden, 51%-40%.
