6-Year-Old Girl Dies In Go-Kart Accident, Family Announces

Tragedy struck when a six-year-old girl passed away after a go-kart accident at a Port St. Lucie, Florida, fun park Saturday, her family said.

Emma Riddle was inside a go-kart at the Urban Air Adventure Park along with an adult when another go-kart “slammed” into it, police said, WPTV reported. Emma was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she passed the next day due to her injuries. (RELATED: REPORT: Individual Dies By ‘Apparent Suicide’ At Disney World)

The girl was “joyfully celebrating her sister’s birthday” before the fatal collision, Emma’s family said in a GoFundMe. “Full of life, love, and light, Emma touched every soul she met. She was adored by all who knew her and loved God with all her heart,” the family wrote.

“Her faith was strong, her spirit radiant, and her kindness unmatched,” they continued, asking for donations to cover funeral costs.

The Urban Air Adventure Park remains closed while officials probe the collision, WPTV reported. A Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services state inspector showed up at the park Monday amid speculation over the incident. An Urban Air spokesman said that the company is “heartbroken by the tragic accident” at the Florida location, according to CBS News.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the child’s family and loved ones,” the statement continued. “Our policies, procedures and equipment are designed to keep children and families safe, and the well-being of the children and families we serve is always our top priority. Our team responded immediately, and emergency personnel arrived on-site. We are working with state and local authorities as their investigation moves forward.”
