Lindsey Graham says Biden won’t take cognitive test ‘because he would fail it’ – Washington Examiner

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said the reason President Joe Biden has opted not to take a cognitive test is “because he will fail it.”

Graham was discussing the growing concerns from voters about whether Biden has the mental acuity to continue his role as president, which have gone up drastically since his appearance at the first presidential debate. As such, the South Carolina senator suggested Biden should take a cognitive test “to assure all of us that you’re as fit as you say you are,” citing his own concern about Biden’s ability to continue his job.

“Why won’t he take a cognitive test, Sean?” Graham said on Fox News’s Hannity. “Because he would fail it. He knows he would fail. Everybody who wants Biden to stay in place knows he will fail, and it scares the hell out of me that we’re going to be having this man be commander in chief for four more months.”

Graham also acknowledged that Vice President Kamala Harris taking Biden’s place as president would ultimately not improve much since she has supported many of his policies. He noted how Harris has been “the border czar” amid the lack of security along the southern border and that she is more liberal “in many ways” than Biden.

Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party, is only a few years younger than Biden, though Graham argued he has never seen “a guy with this much energy at any age.” He also joked that Trump is “playing the best golf of his life,” as he just played with him a week ago.

During Biden’s first post-debate interview, the president declined to take a cognitive test, contending that he takes one “every single day” by doing his job. The president also argued that he is the same man he was four years ago “in terms of successes” and that his performance at the debate was just “a really bad night.”

Trump challenged Biden to a second presidential debate on Independence Day, with this debate being “no holds barred” on any topics discussed. The second presidential debate is presently scheduled to be hosted by ABC News on Sept. 10.

Like Biden, the former president has not been clear of his own slip-ups, as he mispronounced Rep. Ronny Jackson’s (R-TX) name as “Ronny Johnson” last month. Trump had been talking about how he “aced” his own cognitive test and that Biden should also take one.
