RNC host committee exceeds fundraising goal with $85 million haul – Washington Examiner

The event host committee for the Republican National Convention announced it raised $85 million, far exceeding its original goal.

The RNC host committee said its original fundraising goal was around $68 million. The RNC is set to take place next week from July 15 to July 18 in Milwaukee, where former President Donald Trump will become the party’s nominee.

“The outpouring of support for this convention has been bigger than I ever imagined,” Reince Priebus, chairman of the Milwaukee 2024 Host Committee, said in a statement.

The committee did not provide the exact amount of money it raised but noted that its fundraising total “represents a record amount raised by any Host Committee for a Republican convention in history.” The group said it will release exact totals after the event concludes.

“I’m proud of the work that the Host Committee did to reach this historic milestone,” Priebus said. “This is money that is going to be injected into our community to help throw this event.”

Priebus also thanked Wisconsin officials for their “integral role” in fundraising efforts “because they know that this convention is a great way to put Milwaukee on the map.”

The committee previously estimated that the cost to host the convention could be anywhere from $89 million to $154 million.

Similarly, the Democratic National Convention’s fundraising goal is $85 million, which it says it has nearly raised now about a month out from its own convention in Chicago.
