Pelosi on relationship with Biden after reelection decision fallout: ‘You’d have to ask him’ – Washington Examiner

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sounded unsure about the status of her relationship with President Joe Biden after he suspended his bid for reelection.

In her first prime-time interview since Biden announced his decision, Pelosi said she has not spoken to the president since that fateful Sunday.

Bash: Have you spoken to President Biden since he dropped out?

Pelosi: No

Bash: Is everything ok with your relationship?

Pelosi: You’d have to ask him but I hope so but he knows. Look, I have loved Joe Biden, respected him for over 40 years. pic.twitter.com/rUwH5kHpLF

After CNN host Dana Bash asked Pelosi if “everything was OK” with her relationship with Biden, the former House speaker replied, “You’d have to ask him.”

“I hope so,” Pelosi added. “But he knows — look, I have loved Joe Biden, respected him for over 40 years.”

Bash picked up with her line of questioning.

“One of the things I’ve been wanting to ask you about is the lawmakers who came out, 1, 2, 3, are some of the lawmakers who are closest to you. Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, Zoe Lofgren, with statements saying that they respectfully thought it was time for the president to step aside,” Bash said.

Pelosi continued to rebuff suggestions that she and her allies orchestrated an effort to get Biden to step down.

“I have hundreds of allies in the Congress of the United States. No, I had nothing to do with that,” she told Bash.

One of the nation’s most powerful Democrats, Pelosi was rumored to have privately expressed concern to Biden over his chances of winning a second term.

As the Democratic Party panicked over widespread fallout following Biden’s first presidential debate, the former House speaker and former President Barack Obama reportedly conducted an internal campaign to help convince the incumbent president to release his grip on a second term.

Pelosi has denied speculation that she helped convince the president to drop out, and she echoed that sentiment during Monday’s interview.
