Cruz says Harris can’t defend border crisis: ‘Nothing to say for the victims’ – Washington Examiner

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted Vice President Kamala Harris’s record as border czar, noting she and the Democrats are the “party of special interests.”

While appearing on Jesse Watters Primetime, Cruz was asked why he believes the Democratic National Convention this week has not displayed more speeches from families of those affected by crime as a result of the border crisis. Host Jesse Watters noted in jest that he thought the Democrats were the “party of the people.”

“This is, unfortunately, the party of special interest,” Cruz said. This is all about power.”

Cruz pointed to GOP presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump’s appearance at the U.S.-Mexico border Thursday alongside the families of two women who were allegedly raped and murdered by illegal immigrants.

“Every damn day another American is murdered, another woman is raped, another child is brutalized by illegal immigrants that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have released,” Cruz said. “And they have nothing to say for the victims, for the families that have been devastated by the criminals that they are releasing every day.”

According to a House Judiciary Committee report released earlier this summer, the Biden-Harris administration has admitted more than 5.3 million illegal immigrants into the United States, along with nearly 2 million more illegal immigrants that have been seen sneaking into the country.

Since February 2021, more than 10 million people have been encountered at the U.S. borders, which surpasses that of any other one-term or two-term administration.
