Who is Laura Loomer? Republicans fear conservative activist’s influence growing on Trump – Washington Examiner

Laura Loomer, a self-labeled “investigative journalist,” has been repeatedly sighted around former President Donald Trump in recent days.

Loomer was seen de-boarding his plane on the day of the presidential debate, and she was spotted around him throughout the day on Wednesday as Trump joined with others in the 9/11 day of remembrance. Some conservatives are concerned.

Loomer called the late-Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee a “ghetto b****,” said last year that 9/11 was an “inside job,” and just this week claimed that if Vice President Kamala Harris wins in November, the White House “will smell like curry.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA), an ardent defender of Trump, commented on Loomer’s “racist” Harris commentary, which Loomer later declared was a joke.

“This is appalling and extremely racist,” the congresswoman said. “It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever. Laura Loomer should take this down.”

Loomer also claimed in her post on Sunday that “White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand.”

MTG later admitted that she used to be friends with Loomer, even fundraising for her during Loomer’s failed congressional run, but refused to endorse her after Loomer allegedly didn’t listen to her advice on running again in a different district. Greene said last year that Loomer “can not be trusted,” with the New York Times reporting that the campaign would not hire Loomer despite Trump’s insistence.

Since MTG’s post, Loomer has made several posts on X degrading the congresswoman. She compared MTG to “a hooker [who] sells herself to the highest bidder,” and accused her of cheating on her husband “with a Zangief cosplayer.”

It’s really funny how @mtgreenee (a raging anti semite who said Jews use space lasers to control the world) wants to pretend like I’m a “racist” because I made a funny joke about Kamala Harris making cooking videos and buying curry spice at an anti Trump spice shop and I mocked… https://t.co/5uLJazczyP

One person close to the Trump campaign reportedly told Semafor they were “100%” concerned about her “exacerbating Trump’s weaknesses,” as her recent involvement with the former president takes place with the presidential election less than two months away.

“Regardless of any guardrails the Trump campaign has put on her, I don’t think it’s working,” the person said.

It’s unlikely Loomer will be given a formal campaign role because of the controversy she has stirred, which has upset some Trump supporters as well as his fiercest critics. But her continued appearances around Trump have raised her profile and seemingly deepened their connection.

In another post on X, Loomer denied she works for Trump and said she won’t talk to reporters, but that she has “dedicated myself, all of my time, all of my resources, all of my focus all of my energy and all of my loyalty to helping [Trump] who is truly our nations’ last hope.”

The Trump campaign declined to directly comment on Loomer to the Washington Examiner.

“Today, President Trump put politics aside and stood beside Kamala Harris and Joe Biden to honor those who lost their lives during the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history,” Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said. “The day wasn’t about anyone other than the souls who are no longer with us, their families, and the heroes who courageously stepped up to save their fellow Americans on that fateful day.”
