Biden says Secret Service ‘needs more help’ after second Trump assassination attempt – Washington Examiner

President Joe Biden said that the Secret Service needs more assistance after a second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump in two months.

“One thing I want to make clear is: The service needs more help. And I think Congress should respond to their need,” he told reporters Monday morning.

“Thank God the president is OK,” Biden added.

He also said that the Secret Service would get the final say on deciding “whether they need more personnel or not.”

The president was quick to denounce the shooting and express his gladness that Trump was unharmed.

“I am relieved that the former President is unharmed,” Biden said in a statement Sunday. “There is an active investigation into this incident as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened. As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country.”
