Lawsuit accuses Fairfax school board candidate of portraying parent as porn actress

A lawsuit filed in Fairfax County, Virginia , accuses a Fairfax County school board candidate of creating a Twitter account that portrayed a local mother as a porn actress.

Stacy Langton, a Fairfax County mother, filed the lawsuit against Harry Jackson, a candidate for the Fairfax County school board. Langton made headlines in 2021 after she read portions of a book in her child’s school library that contained sexually explicit content at a school board meeting.

The lawsuit says that Jackson defamed Langton by insinuating that she is a former porn actress and that he created a fake account on X, formerly known as Twitter, that suggested she had an account on the website OnlyFans.

The lawsuit also includes an October 2022 X post from Jackson that asked Langton if she “work[ed] doing something someone promised would make you a star?”

“The false and defamatory claim that Plaintiff has performed in pornography is especially and uniquely harmful to Plaintiff, as her reputation has been built on her efforts to combat the availability of pornographic and sexually explicit materials in public school libraries,” the lawsuit says.

Before his school board candidacy, Jackson rose to prominence in Fairfax County due to his opposition to changes to the admissions process at Thomas Jefferson High School, a magnet school in the county that was ranked best in the nation before the admissions process was changed in a bid to increase the number of black and brown students. A lawsuit to restore the old admissions standards is ongoing.

In August 2022, Jackson made local headlines after he was caught on video laughing at an autistic child who sang the national anthem at a school board meeting. He later apologized, saying he did not intend to cause any offense. The incident took place shortly after he launched his campaign for school board.

Jackson, who has the endorsement of the Fairfax County Republican Party, told the Washington Examiner in a statement that Langton’s lawsuit is “frivolous [and] unsubstantiated” and “is demonstrative of the downfall of a litigious society.”

He ripped the lawsuit as a means for Langton to attain media attention, seek revenge, and aid his electoral opponent.

“I have retained a lawyer and am counter-suing Langton for defamation, of which she has a long history,” he said. “In the last two years, she has received at least one, and likely two, cease and desist letters for defamation.

Michael Ginsburg, the chairman of the 11th Congressional District of Virginia Republican Committee, which includes Fairfax County, defended Jackson in a statement and accused Langton of engaging in “meaningless Twitter games that will do nothing to improve educational outcomes in Fairfax County.”

“I supported Harry Jackson’s endorsement because he is focused on the issues voters care about: improving test scores, closing achievement gaps for minority students, recovering from pandemic learning loss, and ensuring Fairfax students are well prepared for life after graduation,” Ginsburg said. “I stand behind my support of his endorsement.”
