Voters have some advice for former President Donald Trump: Get ready to duck — again.
A grim new Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets said that about two-thirds of likely voters expect that he will face a third attempt on his life, and many blame the rhetoric of his enemies for inspiring shooters.
“Majorities of every political category — 75% of Republicans, 56% of Democrats and 64% of voters unaffiliated with either major party — think it’s at least somewhat likely there will be another assassination attempt against Trump before November 5,” said Rasmussen.
The polling outfit added, “Among voters who consider it ‘very likely’ there will be another assassination attempt against Trump before Election Day, 63% believe the people trying to assassinate Trump are motivated by the rhetoric of Trump’s enemies.”
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been making strong charges against Trump, claiming that he is a threat to democracy.
Both assassination attempts on Trump this summer came from Democratic sympathizers.

Would-be Mar-a-Lago assassin Ryan Wesley Routh had a Biden-Harris sticker on the bumper of his truck, according to media reports. He also left a note offering a $150,000 bounty on Trump, which critics of releasing the note said would inspire more shooters.

Overall, 65% believe that there will be another try on Trump’s life before Election Day. While Trump now speaks behind bulletproof plastic, he has not stopped his practice of wandering into crowds and stores on the campaign trail. Just yesterday in Pennsylvania, he stopped by a market to buy Utz popcorn and gave a mother of three a $100 bill to help pay her grocery bill.
As to motive, 49% blame the “rhetoric of Trump’s enemies,” and 36% said shooters are motivated by mental illness.
