President Joe Biden is providing an update on the federal government’s preparations for Hurricane Milton and ongoing response to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Biden is expected to speak at 10:15 a.m. EDT from the White House.
Hurricane Milton is barreling toward the west coast of Florida and is expected to make landfall on Wednesday night, according to the National Hurricane Center. Forecasters say the storm will be an “extremely dangerous hurricane through landfall.”

The new storm comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene battered Florida’s Big Bend region, along with Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene has come under scrutiny, as the recovery in those states continues.
