Billy Crystal takes shots at Trump on The View and tells audience: ‘Don’t clap — vote’ – Washington Examiner

Comedian Billy Crystal joined The View and made several digs at former President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

After a lengthy segment of the co-hosts bashing the former president, Crystal joined the hosts with a quip, “Wow. So good to be here after such a calm opening segment. Wow.”

“Do you have anything you want to say about it?” co-host Joy Behar asked Crystal.

“I agree with everything you said,” the actor said, adding, “It’s actually insane to me.”

He paused to tell the applauding audience, “Don’t clap. Vote.”

Co-host Sara Haines later asked him about his 50-year career and congratulated him on being honored at the Kennedy Center.

Crystal shared his appreciation for the honor and then took a shot at Trump.

“I got to meet with the president beforehand, and it was thrilling to be with somebody who was not indicted 94 times,” he said, indirectly making a dig at the former president.

Some social media users watching the interview reacted to Crystal’s political comments.

“Billy Crystal just went hard Left, anti-Trump rhetoric and @TheView this morning. I for one will never see another BK movie again, even if he we’re the last actor or earth,” one person said on the X platform.

“So Billy Crystal tosses out a cheap-shot joke Trump’s way to pander to the program. What a turd he is,” another person responded.

“He’s got to make his appearance and take a cheap shot at Trump. You wouldn’t have a show without Trump as a daily topic to carry it,” one person said on X with a laughing emoji.

The City Slickers actor is not the only celebrity to get political in the final two weeks of the election. Actor Ben Stiller has been busy stumping with the second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Jennifer Garner has been campaigning with the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Gov. Tim Walz’s (D-MN) wife, Gwen Walz, and Batman star Michael Keaton released several videos on Tuesday showing his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
