Penn State students to protest Trump visit- Washington Examiner

Students at Penn State University have unveiled plans for protests ahead of former President Donald Trump’s arrival in State College for a campaign rally Saturday afternoon.

One of the two groups, which described itself as a “grassroots revolutionary socialist organization,” will hold a march on campus and walk to the Bryce Jordan Center, where Trump is scheduled to host an event with thousands of supporters in attendance.

“Workers and students, we must unite to take a stand against white supremacy, queerphobia, and zionism that Trump seeks to unleash on State College with his visit on Saturday!!” the student group, Student Committee for Defense and Solitary, along with the People’s Defense Front, posted on Instagram.

“It is our duty to defend our communities from racism and hate that Trump’s presence seeks to inflame in State College. Help us protect our communities from such racist violence by protesting Trump’s visit!!” the groups continued in the post. “Let’s send the message through direct action that Trumpism is not welcome here!! No Trump, No KKK, No Fascists in PA!!”

The Trump campaign plans to hold a 4 p.m. rally with doors opening at noon.

“Only a Trump-Vance administration will put Pennsylvanians first, ensuring everyone from young families to retirees can save more. Trump’s commonsense agenda is exactly why Pennsylvania voters will flip Pennsylvania red this November,” the Trump campaign release stated.

Protesters and marchers will gather at 2 p.m. at the corner of College Avenue and Garner Street Saturday and began to march toward the event center at 2:30 p.m., leading to a potential collision with thousands of Trump supporters outside the venue.

Both of the protest organizers had organized a pro-Palestinian rally in downtown State College earlier this spring.

Pennsylvania is one of seven battleground states that Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are fighting to win its 19 Electoral College votes on Nov. 5.
