Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) believes former President Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden is a sign he is “giving up” in the presidential race.
“I think he’s waving the white flag of surrender,” Hochul said Sunday on MSNBC’s The Weekend.
“He’s giving up, because why else would you come to New York City? You are not going to find undecided voters walking the streets of Manhattan today,” She argued.
Every time Donald Trump has been on the ballot in New York, he’s been rejected.

Trump is set to address a crowd of supporters Sunday evening in New York City. It is very unlikely that deep-blue New York would swing Republican this year, but Trump, a native New Yorker, has privately and publicly said he believes he can win the state.
“We think there’s a chance of winning New York first time since, well, long time, many, many decades. And we think there’s a real chance with what’s going on, with the migrants taking over the city, taking over, the whole state, frankly,” Trump said on Fox News Radio.
Hochul said that while Trump will be going to his “known, familiar” environment, the visit would be a disservice to his presidential campaign.
“He’s coming back to a city that he knows well. He’s comfortable here. Maybe he’d like to sleep in his own bed,” Hochul said. During Trump’s 2016 run, it was revealed that he prefers to sleep in his own bed while on the campaign trail and frequently flies home after events.
Sunday’s rally will also serve as one of Trump’s largest fundraisers to date, according to CNN. Donors for the event have been offered a series of packages, some of which include VIP suites, tickets to an exclusive “pre-event” at the venue, backstage passes, and photo opportunities.

“The Trump campaign is going to make an insane amount of money off this event,” one source familiar with the guest list told CNN.
Besides this visit, Trump is set to visit Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin this week in the final days of the campaign.
