Fact Check:
A post made on X claims to depict a Trump campaign press release that states Trump plans to enact Project 2025. The caption reads, “AMAZING.” The image included with the post depicts the Trump campaign logo and contains text that reads, “I look forward to working with members of the new Congress to quickly secure our border, cut inflation, and enact Project 2025, which, to be completely honest, is one of the great platforms of all time.”
The claim is false. The Trump campaign website does not contain this statement. There is no evidence to show the Trump campaign ever released this statement. (RELATED: Did The Trump Campaign Release An Official Statement On Peanut The Squirrel?)
The Trump campaign has distanced itself from Project 2025. For example, A July campaign statement stated that “President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign…”
[Project 2025] did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way. Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you,” reads part of the statement.
The Trump campaign’s official statement following the 2024 presidential election results does not mention Project 2025. The statement reads, “President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone earlier today where she congratulated him on his historic victory. President Trump acknowledged Vice President Harris on her strength, professionalism, and tenacity throughout the campaign, and both leaders agreed on the importance of unifying the country.”
