Trump’s national security picks are winning praise from Democrats – Washington Examiner

President-elect Donald Trump is quickly filling out some of the most important positions in his coming administration, and Democrats aren’t rushing to criticize his picks.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), a staunch pro-Israel Democrat who has feuded with Republicans and other Democrats alike, has been voicing his approval of some of the president-elect’s Cabinet choices.

Among the choices, Moskowitz has been vocal about chief of staff Susie Wiles, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and U.N. Ambassador Elise Stefanik.

Moskowitz isn’t the only Democrat to approve of some of the Trump administration’s personnel choices — Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) praised Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who Trump has reportedly tapped to be his secretary of state in a post on his government X account, calling him a “strong choice” and saying he’d vote for his confirmation.

While the Trump team and his various appointees have confirmed the reports about their movement, neither Rubio or the president-elect’s camps have confirmed reporting the Florida senator will become the country’s top diplomat next year.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) joined Fetterman in saying Rubio was a strong choice as well, remarking, “We don’t always agree on everything, but I think he’s gonna be a good choice.”

But Moskowitz has gone beyond the praise of Warner and Fetterman. He saved his most glowing praise for Wiles, calling her the “GOAT” in an X reply and saying she’s “brilliant, tough, strategic.” Moskowitz worked with Wiles in the DeSantis administration while he was the Florida Division of Emergency Management director.

Congrats to @susie57! I worked with Susie in the DeSantis Administration. She is brilliant, tough, strategic. She will serve the country well https://t.co/MfD9TX7AXl

Moskowitz also had glowing praise for fellow House member and pro-Israel comrade Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for her new position as U.N. ambassador.

“For those of us, who have been fighting antisemitism at the United Nations, they’re about to get some needed medicine @EliseStefanik,” he said in a post on X.

He also praised Waltz and his wife, Julia Nesheiwat, saying they “have served our country with distinction.”

Other Trump appointments haven’t been received as kindly.
