Secretary of State Antony Blinken busted out his musical skills Wednesday night during the launch of a new initiative by the State Department, playing the Muddy Waters classic “Hoochie Coochie Man” on the guitar.

The performance marked the launch of the “Global Music Diplomacy Initiative,” which the department claims is intended to use music as a diplomatic tool to “create a music ecosystem that expands economic equity and the creative economy, ensures societal opportunity and inclusion, and increases access to education.”

While those in the room enjoyed Blinken’s performance, some conservatives on social media were not impressed.

“Muddy Waters you are not,” Roger Stone posted on X.

“He has no peace plan for Ukraine but Blinken has Music Diplomacy. Dear God he is the worst Secretary of State ever,” former acting Director of the United States National Intelligence Richard Grenell posted.

The new initiative consists of multiple programs, all of which revolve around music and using it as a tool of diplomacy. One of the programs in this initiative, the American Music Mentorship Program, will bring international music industry professionals to the United States for mentorship opportunities and will launch in fall 2024.

Another program will be a collaboration between a program titled the Fulbright Program and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which will teach how performance arts, such as music, theater, and dance, can help the health and well-being of people and the world.
