Seven Republican presidential hopefuls took the debate stage at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California, on Wednesday night, but Democrats appear dead set on President Joe Biden being their 2024 nominee.

Biden is running against environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and writer Marianne Williamson for the Democratic nomination, yet no debates are confirmed for the 46th president to meet his challengers.

We hit the streets of Washington to ask liberals if they feel Biden should debate his Democratic rivals.

“I don’t think he needs to,” one person said. “But at this point where our country is, if there are candidates who express interest and have a platform, I think he has a responsibility to hear them out.”

Having the president debate his challengers is a “good idea,” according to another.

“Not every president has been reelected, right?” he asked rhetorically.

“Trump being a prime example, but also Biden, right?” he added, appearing to allude to the president’s unflattering cognitive moments.

Everyone we spoke with had problems with the president’s opponents for the nomination because they could either not name them or did not take them seriously.

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr.?” one said. “He’s crazy. … So, he’s not a real candidate in my view.”
