The claim stems from satire.
Musk’s plans for the government include a $2 trillion cut in spending as he and Vivek Ramaswamy are set to head the Department of Government Efficiency, according to CNN. Musk admitted these changes will create “hardship” at first as sets his sights on the Department of Education and the federal workforce, the outlet reported.
A post shared on X alleges that Musk responded to announcements from Lemon and The Guardian leaving X. The post shared an image of the alleged response.
The alleged post reads, “X is not an airport, you don’t have to announce your departure.”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests Musk tweeted this comment.. There is no record of this post on Musk’s account. There is no record of this post when searched on the site
The statement appears to have originated on a satirical account called Not Jerome Powell. The account shared a disclaimer in their bio that reads, “Not associated with the Federal Reserve. Financial Parody and sarcasm, control of the world’s liquidity. Not investment advice.”

This is not the first time a fake Musk post has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim he posted a photo of the “last dollar” for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
