A post shared on X claims President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert as the next secretary of education.
The most poetic oxymoron in human history…
Lauren Boebert will be the next Secretary of Education.

Verdict: False
There is no evidence to suggest anyone has been chosen for the position at the time of writing.
Fact Check:
A potential education secretary pick for Trump has entertained the idea of instituting a national mandate that would require schools to have Bibles in classrooms, according to The Independent. Oklahoma’s chief school official Ryan Walters suggested the idea when speaking with NewsNation, according to the outlet.
An X post claims Boebert has been selected as education secretary. The post shared the claim in text.
“The most poetic oxymoron in human history,” the post reads. “Lauren Boebert will be the next Secretary of Education.”
This claim is baseless, however. There are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim. Additionally, there are no credible news reports or posts on Trump’s X account, where he has made many position announcements, to suggest that a secretary of education has been selected at the time of writing. Trump and allies have previously discussed eliminating the Department of Education, according to The Hill. In addition to Walters, Louisiana State Superintendent Cade Brumley is another potential education secretary contender, and Trump’s first education secretary, Betsy DeVos, has expressed interest in the position, according to Newsweek.
