A post shared on Facebook claims Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Counsel Jack Smith was convicted of treason and executed at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp.

Former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner has suggested Smith, who President-elect Donald Trump said he will dismiss once in office, could release a report about Trump’s criminal charges, according to Newsweek. Trump has two pending criminal cases, but as sitting presidents cannot be criminally prosecuted, they will most likely no longer stand, the outlet reported.

A Facebook post claims Smith has been convicted of treason and executed at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. The post appears to show a screenshot of an article with tags such as “Deep State” and “President Trump.”

The headline reads, “Deep Stater Jack Smith Convicted of Treason and Executed at GITMO.” The article shows an image of Smith underneath.

This claim is inaccurate, however. There are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim.

The post includes a link to an article by Real Raw News, which the claim, as well as the screenshot seen in the post, originate from. The site has a disclaimer on its “About Us” page that reads, “This website contains humor, parody, and satire.”
