Social media users are claiming to show the underneath of the Sydney Opera House. This image shows multiple levels of the historic building.
This claim is false. Check Your Fact ran the image through Hive Moderation, an artificial intelligence detecting tool. The analysis found that the image had a 99% chance of being generated by artificial intelligence.
Through a reverse image and keyword search, Check Your Fact found that the image was likely first shared by an account that shares images generated by artificial intelligence. The account says on its website that it has a “robust collection of AI-generated images…”

“The image currently circulating on social media is AI-generated and not an authentic photograph, illustration or depiction of Sydney Opera House, either below or above ground,” a spokesperson for the Sydney Opera House told AFP Fact Check on Nov. 7.
AAP Fact Check also reported that the image’s skyline does not match the actual skyline around the Sydney Opera House.
