House Republicans to launch DOGE panel – Washington Examiner

House Republicans are expected to form a subcommittee to coordinate with the new Department of Government Efficiency headed by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to “root out waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.”

The Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency will be created by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and chaired by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). It will investigate wasteful spending and examine ways to reorganize federal agencies.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY

“I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team,” Greene told the Washington Examiner.

“Our subcommittee will provide transparency and truth to the American people through hearings,” Greene said in a statement. “No topic will be off the table. The goal of DOGE is to bring accountability and GUT useless government agencies.”

The announcement comes as Musk and Ramaswamy tout the DOGE as an incoming vehicle to improve government efficiency and identify programs that the second Trump administration can cut off. House Republicans met with the incoming DOGE team at the White House, a source familiar with the situation told the Washington Examiner, adding that Ramaswamy was at the meeting.

Ramaswamy confirmed the meeting with Comer and Greene to Fox News.

“A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public — we are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a subcommittee to focus on this work,” a Ramaswamy spokesperson said.

Earlier this month, Trump tapped Ramaswamy and Musk to be the faces of the DOGE. In a joint op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, the duo laid out their goals for the group, insisting they are outside volunteers and not federal officials.

“We will focus particularly on driving change through executive action based on existing legislation rather than by passing new laws,” Musk and Ramaswamy said, adding their “North Star for reform will be the U.S. Constitution.”

“We are prepared for the onslaught from entrenched interests in Washington,” they said. “We expect to prevail. Now is the moment for decisive action. Our top goal for DOGE is to eliminate the need for its existence by July 4, 2026 — the expiration date we have set for our project. There is no better birthday gift to our nation on its 250th anniversary than to deliver a federal government that would make our Founders proud.”
