On Christmas Day, multiple pedestrians were struck by a vehicle near Herald Square in Midtown Manhattan.

The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and West 34th Street.

The New York City Police Department confirmed that there are “multiple injuries” reported.

It is currently unclear whether the vehicle intentionally struck the pedestrians or if it was an accident.

Daily Mail reported:

NYPD told DailyMail.com the vehicle struck several people at 6th and West 34th Street in the middle of Manhattan just after 4pm.

It’s also not known what type of vehicle was involved in the carnage and whether it veered into pedestrians on a crosswalk or sidewalk.

The driver has not been identified and police have not yet made any arrests or charges.

Herald Square is home to Macy’s flagship department store, where tourists flock over the Christmas period, especially December 25.

Police are on scene at the major shopping district right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. NYPD said the investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story.
