The news outlet Al Jazeera has been suspended from broadcasting in the occupied West Bank by the Palestinian Authority. CNN reports that the outlet was accused of sharing “misleading reports” and “inciting materials.”
A post shared on Facebook allegedly shows people recently attacking a church in the West Bank on Christmas day. The caption reads, “Palestinians are trying to break into a church in Bethlehem during rehearsals for Christmas. This comes after they threw stones and fired shots at the church. This is how Palestinians treat Christians on Christmas Eve.”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that this video was taken recently. The video appears to date back to 2022 when it was posted on social media claiming that the incident had just occurred.
There were reports at the time explained that attack was started due to an argument between young men nearby. Muslim men threw stones at the building and injured some bystanders.
This is not the first time misinformation about the drones sighted has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim the Pentagon is using “Operation Necromancer” to intercept the drones.
