Former President Jimmy Carter‘s caisson is being carried to the Capitol rotunda to lie in state.

Carter’s body was flown from his native state of Georgia to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday after a ceremony. He will lie in state in the Capitol rotunda, the 13th president to be granted the honor.
Carter died on Dec. 29, 2024, at age 100. He served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981.
