Biden blames the press for his underwater economic polling

President Joe Biden suggested Friday that the media is choosing to selectively cover negative sentiment regarding Bidenomics.
For months, if not years, Biden’s economic polling has been underwater, but a new poll from NBC showed just 38% approving of his economic policies, a low mark for his term in office. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has surpassed Biden among voters under 45 in a poll from PBS NewsHour, driven primarily by discomfort with the current economy.

“You all are not the happiest people in the world in what you report. I mean it sincerely. It gets a more — you get more legs when you report something negative. I don’t mean you’re picking on me. It’s just the nature of things,” the president told reporters when asked about his polling following remarks on the September jobs report. “If you just listen to what’s going on around the world, there’s reason for people to be concerned.”
“I think the American people are smart as hell and know what their interests are. I think they know they’re better off financially than they were before. It’s a fact.”
In defending Biden’s record, White House officials have consistently insisted that polling about the economy doesn’t “tell the whole story.”
Prior to answering questions from reporters, the president called the September jobs report “good news” and claimed it as evidence that his economic platform is working, even as an overwhelming majority of people disapprove of his economic stewardship.
The president closed his remarks by once again criticizing House Republicans for their proposed cuts to federal spending throughout the protracted government funding fight.
“Quite frankly, I’m sick and tired of Republicans in the House saying they want to cut the deficit, when all they really want to do is once again cut taxes for the very wealthy and big corporations, which will only add to the deficit,” he stated. “That’s not what the economy needs right now, more tax cuts for the wealthy.”
“House Republicans shouldn’t put us in a crisis mode again,” Biden continued. “It’s time to stop fooling around. House Republicans, it’s time to do your job, continue our progress growing the economy.”
