The Kardashian family’s reality show featured a cameo of a man who claimed to be wrongfully convicted of murder.

Kevin Keith was visited in prison by reality TV star Kim Kardashian, the second eldest of the children in the star-studded family, during Thursday’s episode of The Kardashians. Keith was convicted in 1994 of the murders of two women and one 7-year-old girl, along with the attempted murder of two other men. Kardashian has been convinced since 2019 that he is innocent and should have his life sentence commuted.

Ohio’s Marion Correctional Institution received the visit from the celebrity in January, with Kardashian sharing photos on X, formerly known as Twitter. While she visited Keith, she also met his family.

“Yesterday I had the honor of visiting Kevin Keith in prison in Ohio after meeting his whole family and speaking at a justice reform panel about his case,” Kardashian posted. “God this is so unfair that he’s been locked up for 29 years for a crime he did not commit. I won’t stop fighting for you Kevin!”

“The Keith Family appreciates the effort and concern that Kim Kardashian has shown for our loved one Kevin Keith. Kevin is an innocent man in Ohio’s prison system and has been there for 30 years,” Keith’s brother Charles said in a statement. “I want to thank Keeping Up With the Kardashians for spotlighting my brother’s case and standing with us in this fight of injustice.”

“I just love helping people,” Kim says during the episode. “It’s something that I just feel that I have to do in this lifetime and I’ll never stop doing that.”

Since 2019, Kim Kardashian has helped some 30 prisoners get out of prison after being convicted of a variety of charges, including nonviolent drug offenses and murder. She also worked with former President Donald Trump to get the First Step Act passed, a piece of legislation that cuts unnecessarily long prison sentences and improves conditions within prisons. Trump signed the bill into law on Dec. 21, 2018.

These newly-released prisoners have gone on to buy homes thanks to their commuted convictions, receive tattoo removal paid for by Kim Kardashian, and one was even hired by the star to model SKIMS, her line of shapewear.
