Colorado female athletes go viral in plea to school board against transgender athletes

A high school girls soccer team in Loveland, Colorado, is getting national attention for its push to keep transgender athletes out of girls sports.

In line with the movement to ban biological male athletes from competing in female sports, which has been a major focus for President Donald Trump, girls soccer players from the Thompson Valley High School pushed the Thompson School District to follow suit. Colorado, California, and Maine are some of the Democratic-run states that continue to allow transgender athletes in female sports, which defies Trump’s policy on the matter.

Cora Cox, captain of the girls soccer team, testified to the board about a game last year that involved biological men competing against them as transgender girls on the opposing team. According to Cox, some of her teammates were injured as a result.

ELISSA SLOTKIN SAYS TRANSGENDER ATHLETES DEBATE IS TO ONLY ‘MAKE SPARKS’

“This not only breaks my heart but makes me genuinely scared for future athletes as this problem continues to develop,” Cox said. “Me and the rest of my team believe that everyone deserves to be and feel how ever that they would like. My speech is to protect my team and all other biological female athletes as well as to keep my sport fair and safe.”

This is not just happening in Colorado. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) acknowledged that transgender athletes make female sports “deeply unfair.” However, his state continues to allow it. Education Secretary Linda McMahon cited Newsom’s comment in a letter demanding that the state school system comply or else lose its federal funding. Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME) is facing a recall effort over her defiance of the order, with Trump threatening to withhold funding.
