EXCLUSIVE — The National Republican Congressional Committee is out with a new digital ad hitting Democrats for past “antisemitic” and anti-Israel comments made by some members of the liberal “Squad.”

As Israel battles Hamas in the wake of terrorist attacks believed to have killed over 1,200 Israelis, the NRCC is bringing up highly controversial comments made by Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

The ad shows clips of the lawmakers, including Tlaib saying on the House floor that “Israel is an apartheid state” and Jayapal saying at a conference that “we have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state.”

“What do you expect when the leader of House Democrats, Hakeem Jeffries, is on the record defending rabid antisemites?” NRCC national press secretary Will Reinert said in a statement.

Members of the Squad have come under fire in the past from members of their own party for their comments on Israel. When Jayapal spoke about Israel being a “racist state,” more than 40 Democrats signed a letter condemning her statement.

“Israel remains the only vibrant, progressive, and inclusive democracy in the region. Arab parties serve in the Knesset, women serve at the highest levels of the military, and the country remains an oasis for LGBTQ+ people in a region hostile toward the community. Pluralism flourishes in Israel,” the group said. “We are deeply concerned about Representative Pramila Jayapal’s unacceptable comments regarding our historic, democratic ally Israel, and we appreciate her retraction.”
