Tuesday marks three years since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with their decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The left loves to claim that conservatives only care about banning abortion, but then, as soon as the baby is born, they are nowhere to be found.
The Daily Caller sat down with two organizations that disprove this talking point, not by disseminating flashy press releases or hiring celebrity spokesmen, but by providing vital grassroots support for pregnant mothers and their children.

Heather Potts, the executive director at Bella House, “a safe haven for mothers experiencing unplanned pregnancies,” told the Daily Caller that the organization works hard to provide everything they need to be successful long after the baby arrives. Bella House currently operates in quiet neighborhoods in North Texas. There are currently 11 women and their babies living in the residence programs, which provide a safe place for homeless pregnant mothers aged 18 and older to live until their baby is one year old and the support they need to achieve their goals for independence and stability. Potts said that each mother is required to be drug- and alcohol-free and participate in six months of classes that empower each woman to make positive changes in her life to become self-sufficient, emotionally strong, and a good mother to her child. While Bella House provides shelter, food, clothing, and emotional support for the mother and her baby, these women have to take it upon themselves to improve in order for the program to be successful.

In the nearly decade that Bella House has been operating, the residential program has housed over 190 mothers and babies, assisted hundreds of families with essential baby items, and provided thousands of nights of housing, according to the organization.
When the Daily Caller asked about Bella House’s five-year plan, Potts pointed to a new and exciting apartment program that they have already been offering. Bella House partnered with a local apartment complex that helps these mothers transition out of their residential program into stable and affordable apartments. Most of these mothers do not have a suitable credit history to qualify for rentals on their own. However, with a recommendation from Bella House, they can get approved to live in the complex.
Bella House also offers an outreach program for expectant mothers, providing them with the support they need to choose life and participate in parenting classes, even if they aren’t the right fit for the residence program.

The Daily Caller also spoke with From Ordinary to Extraordinary (FOTE) founder Dr. Antoria Gillon. FOTE helps pregnant mothers aged 18-24 who are often fleeing domestic violence or otherwise don’t have a steady living situation give birth in safety and security. The organization provides everything a mother and baby need to not only get through those first months of life, but also to achieve financial stability in the future. Gillon told The Daily Caller that FOTE does not receive funding through grants, with most of its financial support coming from community donations. She described her programs as “mission work” for these moms who would otherwise not have the support they need to choose life.
FOTE runs a work-life skills program that teaches expecting and new mothers job training, so that when they leave, they can work in a field that offers a steady income. These mothers enter the beauty and medical industries, with many choosing to become medical assistants, dental assistants, pharmacy technicians, and MRI technicians.
This mom didn’t want to choose abortion, but she needed additional resources.
The pro-life movement came alongside her and provided all of the tangible items she needed to relieve the financial pressure she felt was backing her into a corner.

Gillon is currently working with state and national legislators to help pass the Skills Against Violence Act, which gives grants to organizations that support domestic violence and sexual assault victims, similar to what FOTE provides. She hopes to see her program expand into all 50 states in order to help as many women as possible.
The left will tell you that the only option pregnant women who have no family or financial support have is to participate in abortion. However, organizations like Bella House and FOTE are operating quietly all over the U.S. to prove that these women can choose life and be successful.
