Police Arrest 8 People For Allegedly Stealing Semi-Tractor Trailer With $500,000 Worth Of Whiskey In Heist

Windsor police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the theft of approximately $500,000 worth of Crown Royal whiskey from a facility in Ontario, Canada.

Authorities say that on the evening of May 9, suspects broke into a fenced-in commercial lot in the 3300 block of Devon Drive in Windsor and stole a semi truck loaded with more than 1,000 boxes of Crown Royal, CBS News reported. Windsor police have now arrested eight suspects accused of taking part in the theft of $500,000 worth of Crown Royal whiskey.

Six suspects were arrested and charged in early June: Jason Greenwood, 46; Anthony Nelson, 57; Erica Nelson, 44; Justin Vachon, 27; William Girard, 49; and David Lombardi, 54.

A seventh individual, Michael Christopher Bernard, 45, turned himself in on July 10. He is facing multiple charges, including five counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense.

An eighth suspect, Wilfred St. Jean, 42, was taken into custody on July 22. He is charged with possession of property obtained by crime for trafficking, conspiracy, and wearing a disguise with intent. (RELATED: Harrison Ford’s Latest Project Involves Whisky, And We’re All-In)

Police have so far recovered 66 boxes of the missing whiskey. The remainder is still unaccounted for.

Crown Royal is distilled and bottled in Canada. Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers.
