Homicide Detectives Launch Investigation After Woman Found Dead On Boat At Yacht Club

A woman was found dead aboard a docked boat early Tuesday morning in Montauk, New York, prompting a homicide investigation, according to Suffolk County Police.

Officers responded around 4 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive woman on a boat near Star Island Road, police said, according to News 12 Long Island. First responders attempted lifesaving measures and transported her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead. The woman’s identity has not been released, and the official cause of death remains under investigation. A police spokesperson told the Daily Caller there were no additional details available. The department’s homicide unit is leading the case, the New York Daily News reported.

“This is the last place in all of Montauk you would expect an incident,” a local resident told the New York Post. “The yacht club is the most family-friendly place you could think of.”

It marks the second high-profile death in the area in less than a year. In October, Brooklyn resident Sabina Rosas was found dead at the nearby Shou Sugi Ban House, according to the New York Daily News. Her boyfriend, Thomas Gannon — the lead suspect — later killed himself at his home in Pennsylvania before police could arrest him.
