A former Florida nurse whose husband allegedly caught her sexually abusing her teenage stepson has accepted a plea deal to reduce her sentence, according to Court TV.
Alexis Von Yates pleaded no contest to lewd and lascivious battery Thursday, Court TV reported. Prosecutors initially charged Von Yates with sexual battery on a person 12 to 18 years of age by a person in familial custody. Prosecutors said the teenager’s relatives negotiated the plea agreement so the minor did not have to testify while receiving mental health care.
Authorities accused Von Yates of sexually abusing her stepson while he was visiting his father’s Florida home in July 2024. The teenager’s father discovered the incident and confronted the woman, according to court documents.
Von Yates put her two children to bed while her stepson was visiting, according to court documents obtained by news.com.au. She and her stepson then allegedly smoked a vape, played video games and watched films together. Von Yates told the minor she was “horny” and “had not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period” after turning on a horror film at around 1:00 a.m., according to a Marion County arrest affidavit obtained by the New York Post.
The pair allegedly cuddled and made out. “I wish you were 18, because you’re not old enough,” she said to the teen, authorities alleged.
Von Yates allegedly removed the boy’s underwear and her pants and panties were pulled down before they engaged in sexual contact. The husband returned from work and opened the door in front of the couch, prompting the minor to run as he entered, according to the affidavit. Von Yates’ nursing license was suspended as a result of the incident, TNND reported in April 2025. The teenager alleged that Von Yates had made sexual jokes for a week leading up to the incident.
Von Yates is set to be sentenced on Sept. 16, WCJB reported.
