Charlie Kirk Reflects On Death And Legacy Months Before Shooting

A resurfaced podcast clip shows Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk saying he wanted to be remembered for “courage for my faith” — a statement made just months before his assassination in Utah on Wednesday.

The exchange came during a late June episode of “The Iced Coffee Hour” podcast, when host Jack Selby closed a 90-minute interview by asking Kirk how he wanted to be remembered. (RELATED: Charlie Kirk’s Alleged Assassin Revealed)

“If everything completely goes away, how would you want to be remembered?” Selby asked.

“If I die?” Kirk replied, seeking clarification.

Selby continued: “If you could be associated with one thing, how would you want to be remembered?”

Kirk looked down, then answered, “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith,” before looking back up at the hosts while nodding in agreement with his own answer.

“That would be the most important thing,” Kirk added. “The most important thing is my faith in my life.”

Three months later, Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University moments after declaring to the crowd that “Christ is Lord” and that he had “defeated death,” a witness told CBS News.

Kirk had even offered to return for a second interview after hosts said they had only covered half their questions. In a video posted Thursday, co-host Graham Stephan reflected, “It’s kind of eerie to hear your question there and his first reaction is, you know, about passing away and wanting to be remembered for his faith, and that’s something that I think really needs to be said.”

Selby recalled their interaction with Kirk as “nothing but positive,” noting how much they valued the time he spent with them and the encouragement he later shared about their show.

“We just wanted to speak positively about Charlie,” Selby said. “I don’t have a single negative thing I could say about him. He has been nothing but friendly, thoughtful, and I just see him as a positive influence on my life.”
