Tim Scott blasts House GOP as a ‘zoo’ that could cause losses in 2024

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) warned House Republican members that their infighting could cost them the 2024 election.

Scott appeared on America Right Now Saturday to advise the House in its attempt to elect a new speaker roughly 20 days since it ousted Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). The senator is currently running for the Republican Party’s nomination for president and expressed his concern on the effect an ineffective House could have on the chances of any Republican beating President Joe Biden.

BIDENOMICS IS GOING BELLY-UP WHERE IT MATTERS MOST

“The road to socialism runs right through a divided Republican Party. The zoo called the House today is causing consternation,” Scott said. “If the next election is about Joe Biden, we win,” Scott said. “If it’s about why we can’t govern in the House of Representatives, we lose every single person who hates what’s happened in the last two years.”

House Republicans have already gone through two speaker nominees, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who withdrew after he recognized he couldn’t rally 214 votes due to his cancer diagnosis, and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who lost three elections. There is no current speaker nominee, and Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-SC) is left serving as the speaker pro tempore.

Reps. Kevin Hern (R-OK), Austin Scott (R-GA), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Pete Sessions (R-TX), Mike Johnson (R-LA), Jack Bergman (R-MI), and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) are asking the conference to consider them to be the next speaker. McCarthy has endorsed Emmer.

“Let’s get our act together because the last two years under Joe Biden [have] devastated families across this country,” Scott said. “The last two years under Joe Biden [have] led to the death of 13 American soldiers because of a terrible withdrawal of Afghanistan. And the last two years have devastated global affairs because a weak president has destroyed confidence in America. Let’s not add to the lack of confidence in the Great Opportunity Party — the only alternative for the American people. Let’s get our jobs done, get a speaker, and do not come out of the room until it’s done.”

Scott is facing off against former President Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, political commentator Larry Elder, businessman Perry Johnson, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in the race to win the GOP presidential nomination.
