BREAKING NEWS: Maia Sandu secures an absolute majority in Moldova: PAS wins 51 out of 101 seats with 97% of votes counted, consolidating the path toward the EU against pro-Russian opposition
The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) of President Maia Sandu has retained control of the Moldovan government in this Sunday’s parliamentary elections, consolidating an irreversible path toward the European Union.
With 97% of the votes counted, the PAS secures 48% of the ballots, translating into 51 seats out of a total of 101, ensuring an absolute majority to govern alone.

This result, which leaves behind the pro-Russian Electoral Bloc of Patriots (BEP) with only 27%, represents a resounding victory for democracy against Moscow’s authoritarianism. The election day, marked by a historic 54% turnout, has been a hybrid battlefield.
The Sandu government denounced massive Russian interference, including over $400 million invested in AI-generated disinformation, vote-buying orchestrated by exiled oligarch Ilan Shor from Moscow, cyberattacks on electoral infrastructure, and even the recruitment of 100 Moldovans in Serbia for violent post-election protests.

The diaspora vote, key as in the 2024 presidential elections where Sandu won with 55.33% thanks to 300,000 expatriates, has once again tipped the scales.
Moldova has chosen a European future and rejected client status to fascist Russia.

Analysts highlight that even a third of the electorate in Transnistria, the pro-Russian separatist region, backed the PAS, a frontal rejection of disguised Soviet expansionism.
This contest is not just internal; it is a geopolitical setback for Vladimir Putin, whose global left—aligned with socialists and communists—sees its plans for destabilization on Europe’s eastern flank frustrated. The BEP, which groups russophiles expelled for corruption, announces street protests, but its final 26.2% reflects the exhaustion of Moscow’s propaganda.
This is a victory that underscores the failure of pro-Russian leftists, who prioritize the Kremlin’s yoke over individual progress. Sandu, with her anti-corruption and pro-market agenda, has safeguarded reforms that attract Western investments, contrasting with socialist stagnation.
The OSCE, an impartial observer, confirmed the integrity of the process despite Russian shadows.
The triumph consolidates the 2024 referendum, where the «yes» to the EU won by a narrow 50.35%, despite boycotts paid for by Shor.
95% of votes have come in and PAS has secured 49.3% or 54 seats in the next Parliament. It could be heading towards 55, as diaspora votes are trickling in and they are even better than what I thought. pic.twitter.com/41rOSK3Z9y

However, the pro-Russian opposition does not give up: the BEP claims «electoral fraud» and calls for demonstrations, reminiscent of those in 2024 after Sandu’s reelection.
But with an absolute majority, the PAS will push for laws against foreign interference, strengthening borders against the neighboring Ukrainian aggression.
This result not only ensures stability for the next four years but also sends a clear message to the global left: the Moldovan people reject revived communism.
