Hurricane Watch Issued As Tropical Storm Imelda Strengthens

Tropical Storm Imelda is getting organized as it heads past the northwestern Bahamas, and it’s expected the system will become a hurricane by Tuesday, according to forecasters. This has prompted a Hurricane Watch to be issued for Bermuda.

The heavy rain and life-threatening coastal conditions from Imelda have already caused two deaths related to the storm. (RELATED: Furious Elephant Thrashes Multiple Canoes Full Of Tourists In Terrifying Video)

An “out of state” man, 51, died from drowning after a rip current pulled him out into the ocean and he was unable to swim back to shore, per the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The dangerous rip currents have been a huge concern because of both Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto being beside each other in the Atlantic Ocean. Each system is creating gargantuan waves, and the U.S. East Coast have been feeling the effects in the form of rip currents at local beaches.
