Schumer Shutdown Day One: Two Proposals to Reopen the Government Fail in the Senate

**Schumer Shutdown Day One**

The Senate Democrats’ proposal to reopen the government once again failed on Wednesday.

The Democrats are holding Americans hostage because they want to give healthcare benefits to illegal aliens.

The vote failed in a party-line vote 53-47.

Later Wednesday Senate Democrats rejected the Republican-backed proposal to fund the government in a 55-45 vote.

Vice President JD Vance went off on the Democrats ahead of Wednesday’s vote.

“In their initial proposal, the first thing that they put out to reopen the government, they actually turned that money for health care benefits for illegal aliens back on,” Vance said. “So it’s not something that we made up.”

“It is in the text of the bill that they initially gave to us to reopen the government. It’s preposterous for them to run away from it now,” Vance said.
