Tropical Storm Jerry Forms, Expected To Become Hurricane Within Days

Tropical Storm Jerry developed Tuesday in the Atlantic Ocean, putting extra pressure in the tropical Atlantic Basin that has been seeing heightened activity as we near the conclusion of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

An upgrade from a tropical depression, a tropical storm is a tropical cyclone that features 39-73 mph maximum sustained winds.

Originally designated as Invest 95L, the system became Tropical Storm Jerry late into Tuesday morning.

Located around 1,315 miles from the northern Leeward Islands in the east-southeast direction, Tropical Storm Jerry is headed west at a speed of 24 mph.

Per the NHC, Jerry’s forward speed is expected to decrease in the coming days, and the system will curve towards the west-northwest. The storm‘s center is expected to be around or above the northern Leeward Islands by late Thursday or Friday if it stays on its current track.

According to the NHC, Tropical Storm Jerry is expected to become a hurricane in the next couple of days.

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
