The CEO of the world’s most valuable company celebrated President Donald Trump at his company’s artificial intelligence summit Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised Trump for pushing tech companies to invest in America and return production to the states, and said the president “deserves enormous credit” for mobilizing the tech industry in the AI race against foreign competitors, namely China. Nvidia, which makes high-tech computer chips used for AI, became the first company in the world Wednesday to hit $5 trillion in market value. “If this didn’t happen, we could have been in a bad situation, and I want to thank President Trump,” Huang said.
Closing out his address, Huang even borrowed Trump’s famous phrase, thanking attendees for their “service in making America great again.”

In July, the Trump administration launched an AI initiative that prioritizes the rapid expansion of data centers to gain an edge over China in the AI arena. With input from the private sector and tech companies, the administration hopes to eliminate “onerous Federal regulations that hinder AI development and deployment.”
“Artificial intelligence is a revolutionary technology with the potential to transform the global economy and alter the balance of power in the world. To remain the leading economic and military power, the United States must win the AI race,” the administration’s AI and crypto czar, David Sacks, said in a statement. “Recognizing this, President Trump directed us to produce this Action Plan. To win the AI race, the U.S. must lead in innovation, infrastructure, and global partnerships. At the same time, we must center American workers and avoid Orwellian uses of AI. This Action Plan provides a roadmap for doing that.”
Numerous Big Tech companies have pledged to invest more in America since Trump took office. In August, Trump announced that Apple would be investing an additional $100 billion into American manufacturing, on top of the $500 billion the company pledged in February. IBM announced a $150 billion investment in late April, while Huang’s company announced a $500 billion investment to build AI supercomputers in the U.S. several weeks prior.
Nvidia was one of a dozen companies, including Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Amazon, Meta, Apple and Microsoft, that helped fund Trump’s White House ballroom project.
