Police arrested former Fox TV anchor Angelynn Mock for murder Oct. 31 after her elderly mother was allegedly found with severe stab wounds in Wichita, Kansas, according to authorities.
Officers with the Wichita Police Department responded to a stabbing call at around 8 a.m. and located a 47-year-old woman standing outside the home, according to a press release.
Her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, was allegedly discovered in a bed inside the residence with multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Mock was booked in the Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge, according to jail records.
She anchored for Missouri’s local St. Louis station, Fox 2 News, from 2011 to 2015, The Independent reported.
The suspect in the alleged murder was also treated at the hospital, according to police. It’s unclear why medical attention was required. Mock is being held on a $1 million bond, jail records show. (RELATED: Luigi Mangione Lost Bar Fight To Seven Thai ‘Ladyboys’ — And Bragged About It)
Alyssa Castro told Kake News she was traumatized after she and her boyfriend observed the chaotic scene moments after the alleged stabbing Friday.
“There was a woman who came and approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911,” Castro told the outlet.
She said the woman asked to dial 911, and she ran back into her home with the phone in-hand. Police later returned the phone, The Independent reported, citing Castro.
Sedgwick County dispatchers told emergency responders that a woman called, saying she “stabbed [her] mother to save herself,” Kake News reported.
Castro said she attempted to help the blood-soaked woman after the call for help was placed.
“I asked her if she was okay, and she was pretty shaken up and she seemed scared, and she just ran off,” Castro told the news outlet.
Avers’ husband confirmed to Kake News that his late wife was a marriage and family therapist at Wichita Counseling Professionals.
