María Herrera Mellado: Marco Rubio is doing a fantastic job on national security issues
María Herrera Mellado Highlights the Trump Administration’s Firmness Toward the Regimes of Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia
In an interview with Rich Valdés, attorney and analyst María Herrera Mellado praised the current administration for publicly acknowledging at least ten attacks against vessels linked to drug trafficking in different regions, calling it an important step in the fight against international criminal networks.
“It’s sad to see that people don’t understand the harm caused by the regimes of Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia to their own people,” Mellado said, emphasizing that for years the United States did not take seriously the threat posed by these governments and their alliances with powers such as Russia, Iran, and China.
She also highlighted the role of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom she described as “fantastic” for his commitment to the cause of freedom in Latin America. “Rubio understands what exiles feel and what needs to be done to overthrow those regimes,” she stated.
Mellado concluded by harshly criticizing Colombian President Gustavo Petro, describing his leadership as “deplorable” and supporting the sanctions imposed on him, his family, and his advisers, calling them “a terrible example for the region.”
