Roger Marshall demands agencies report details of terrorist watchlist encounters to Congress

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) introduced a bill that would require agencies to report a detailed breakdown of people on the terrorist watchlist officials encounter entering the country.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection posts its encounters, but Marshall’s proposal demands the Justice Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence deliver monthly reports to Congress with additional details about the encounters, according to Fox News. The additional information Marshall seeks in the report includes national origin, the location of where the terror encounters occurred, ties to any terrorist organization, and past criminal convictions.
BIDEN’S OFFSHORE WIND GOAL UNDER ‘EXISTENTIAL’ THREAT
“There is an invasion at our southern border every day that the Biden administration continues their open border agenda,” Marshall said. “Americans’ national security is at risk.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) co-sponsored the bill, and both Senate Republicans have been working on several measures to add additional security. Republicans have blamed President Joe Biden for the crisis at the southern border.
“Since President Biden took office, Border Patrol has caught hundreds of individuals on the terrorist watchlist trying to cross the southern border, and we don’t know how many more have made it into the country undetected,” Cornyn said. “This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to report every individual on the terrorist watchlist encountered at the border to Congress so that we can hold the Biden administration accountable.”

Border officials said they’ve seen a growing number of people on the FBI’s terrorist watchlist trying to cross through the U.S.-Mexico border. Data released by Customs and Border Protection for fiscal 2023 shows 169 encounters at the southern border, which is up from 98 last year.
“Month after month, we have seen historic numbers of migrants on the FBI’s terror watchlist infiltrating our country’s border,” Marshall added. “The threat the individuals on this list pose to Americans’ safety is too great for us to do nothing.”
