Sa’ar Warns: Maduro Has Turned Venezuela Into a Terror Hub for Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran-Backed Militias – Gateway Hispanic

The Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, has issued a forceful denunciation against Nicolás Maduro’s regime in Venezuela.

According to Sa’ar, the Chavista government operates as the main «nexus» in South America for Islamist terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, facilitating a «narcoterrorism» network that threatens regional stability and projects malign influence far beyond its borders.

This accusation, made on November 24, 2025, during a public address, underscores how Venezuela has become a key logistical base for these groups, integrating into the so-called «axis of resistance» that unites authoritarian regimes and radical militias in an alliance against democracy and Western security.

Sa’ar did not limit himself to vague words: he detailed how the Maduro regime provides safe haven, false passports, and financing routes through drug trafficking so that Hezbollah and Hamas can operate on the continent.

Hezbollah, for example, has established cells on the Venezuelan border with Colombia and Trinidad and Tobago, using the economic collapse of Chavismo to launder funds through the diamond and cocaine trade.

The Houthis, for their part, benefit from ties with Iran —Maduro’s historic ally— to expand their propaganda and logistics in Hispanic America.

This network is not an isolated phenomenon, but the result of two decades of leftist policies that have prioritized alliances with anti-Western powers such as Russia, Cuba, and Iran, eroding democratic institutions and fostering chaos.

We had previously reported this at Gateway Hispanic, where it is highlighted how Maduro’s regime has offered «safe haven» to Russian, Iranian, and Cuban forces, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Colombian guerrillas for 26 years, in a context of drug trafficking and hemispheric destabilization.

These revelations expose the hypocrisy of the global left, which has systematically silenced the abuses of Chavismo while preaching human rights. The «axis of resistance» to which Maduro openly subscribes —as he himself has declared in public speeches— is nothing more than a disguise for terrorist expansionism.

Venezuela, once an oil powerhouse, now serves as a springboard for asymmetric attacks: from the financing of attacks in Argentina, where Hezbollah perpetrated the AMIA massacre in 1994, to infiltration in the tri-border communities.

Regional destabilization is palpable: Colombia faces a resurgence of narco-violence with Islamist overtones, and Brazil has detected Houthi intelligence operations in its ports. In this panorama, the Chavista regime not only ignores international sanctions but evades them with the help of cartels such as the Cartel of the Suns, its own military-narco structure.

Sa’ar’s warning comes at a critical moment, with the Trump 2.0 administration preparing to toughen policies against transnational terrorism.

Figures such as the future Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, have warned about Iranian drones assembled in Venezuela and passports handed over to Hezbollah members, directly linking Maduro to narcoterrorism and electoral fraud.

This ideological alliance between radical leftism and extremist Islamism represents an existential threat to freedom in the hemisphere, reminding us that 21st-century socialism is not a failed experiment, but a deliberate vector of insecurity.

It is imperative that conservative governments in the region, such as those of Milei in Argentina or Noboa in Ecuador, coordinate efforts to isolate Maduro and dismantle these networks, prioritizing sovereignty and alliance with Israel and the United States.

In the final analysis, Sa’ar’s words are not mere rhetoric: they are a call to action against a regime that has turned Venezuela into the epicenter of a global hybrid war. Ignoring this would mean yielding ground to totalitarianism disguised as progressivism.
