FBI Arrests Suspect In Jan. 6 Pipe Bomb Probe

The FBI arrested a suspect Thursday in the planting of pipe bombs near the Republican and Democratic national headquarters in Washington, D.C., ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, multiple outlets reported, citing law enforcement sources.

Brian Cole, a Virginia man, is in custody in relation to the probe, according to NBC News and The New York Post. The FBI has searched for nearly five years for whoever planted the bombs on Jan. 5, 2021, and previously released footage of the hooded suspect near the scene at night.

Law enforcement agents were seen Thursday morning at a Woodbridge home, WUSA and Fox 5 reported. Public records reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation link the address to Cole.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives did not respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment.
