Larry Elder Suspends Presidential Campaign, Endorses Trump

Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder announced the suspension of his 2024 presidential campaign Thursday on Twitter, giving former President Donald Trump his “full support” for the upcoming elections.

“As I look at the path forward, and after careful consideration and consultation with my campaign team, I have made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign. Now that I am exiting the race, I am proud to announce my endorsement of Donald Trump for President of the United States,” Elder wrote.

Honored to have just met with @realDonaldTrump to lend him my endorsement for President. I am grateful for the support I received from so many of you across the country. Statement below: pic.twitter.com/1LE9PMtv7c

“He has my full support to Make America Great Again, end the epidemic of fatherless homes, reign in spending, and restore law & order.”

“His leadership has been instrumental in advancing conservative, America-first principles and policies that have benefited our great nation. We must unite behind Donald Trump to beat Joe Biden and fight back against Biden’s unprecedented election interference and the left’s destruction of America,” Elder continued in his post.

Elder announced his bid for the presidency in April 2023, issuing a statement about his campaign on Fox News’ former show “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

He also ran for public office during a recall in 2021 to replace California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Elder received the most votes out of all potential candidates, however, the recall ultimately failed due to a majority of voters voting against removing Newsom. The 45th president has made waves in the polls since his announcement for the 2024 presidential seat in 2022. In fact, new polls suggest that Trump could be leading in major swing states against President Joe Biden. While it’s unclear how well Trump could do in the 2024 general elections, his lead as the GOP presidential nominee is unmatched. The latest poll from Morning Consult shows that the former president is holding a 49-point lead against his closest competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who sits at 13 percent.
