Father of Bondi Beach terror attack survivor calls for not giving in to fear
The father of one of the people who survived the terrorist attack in Bondi Beach said that his family understands having survived as a moral responsibility: to continue spreading the “light” and the values that, he said, define their identity and purpose. He noted that the attackers seek to extinguish Jewish identity, sow fear, and destroy joy, and therefore—he argued—the response must be more identity, more joy, and more courage.
He recounted that on the night of the attack, his family decided to light the Hanukkah candles in the street, in front of their home on Bondi Road, as a conscious act of resistance to fear and a reaffirmation of their spiritual mission. He emphasized that their duty is to be a light to the world and to transmit the values of the Torah and the Judeo-Christian values that, he said, form the foundation of Western civilization.
Finally, he warned that radical Islamist terrorism seeks to destroy those principles and called on Jews and Christians to unite in confronting that violent ideology.
