Israel war: IDF warns those in North Gaza and Gaza City to evacuate ‘immediately’

The Israel Defense Forces issued a warning Saturday for all the citizens of Northern Gaza and Gaza City to “immediately” move south.
IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari recorded a video message that was posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Hagari said his comments were an “urgent military advisory” meant for the “immediate safety” of those in the area. The warning comes as things heat up in the Middle Eastern region.

“We urge all residents of northern Gaza and Gaza City to relocate south immediately. This is a temporary measure,” Hagari said. “Moving back to north of Gaza will be possible once the intense hostilities end. Hamas puts your life in danger by placing weapons and forces within civilians area in Gaza, including schools, mosques, and hospitals. The impending IDF operation is set to neutralize this threat of Hamas with precision and intensity.”
This warning comes after Hagari claimed that Hamas’s headquarters were discovered underneath Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Various complexes are allegedly under the campus of the hospital. Hamas has denied that its headquarters are there.
On Saturday morning, the IDF sent ground forces into Gaza in what it called a “new phase” of war. It has been three weeks since the initial attack from Hamas killed around 1,400 people in Israel. the death toll in Gaza has reached 7,703 people, per the Associated Press.

Hagari promised that the “massacre” on Oct. 7, when Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israel and sent in dozens of fighters, will not be forgotten. He also mentioned that the military hasn’t forgotten the 200 Israelis who are being held hostage.
Gaza is about 25 miles long and six miles wide, with the evacuation area delineated by the IDF taking up a little less than half of the area.
